It's called hemorrhoids or piles and it's basically any form of vein inflammation around the lower rectal regions.

Blood on your toilet paper? Itching in your anus area? Pain during constipation? All of these are likely signs that you may have hemorrhoids and it's no laughing matter - because although common, they can be annoying and embarrassing.

In the more severe stages, they can fall out like a lump outside your bottom.

So what are some common mistakes that people make which contribute to developing this common condition? Even if you have these already, avoiding the following 3 mistakes can start relieving the problem gradually.

Mistake #1: Eating too much processed food

This can be a toughie for some people. However, it's known that processed foods create harder stool and troubles in digestion. This creates constipation and other issues which can lead to hemorrhoids. The key here, especially when you are suffering and trying to cure hemorrhoids, is to lower your intake of processed sugars and foods.

Mistake #2: Sedentary lifestyle

A lot of long term sitting can create additional pressure on the bottom area and this invokes the perfect environment for a hemorrhoid to occur if combined with a sharp force such as constipation or pregnancy (in women). The solution is to make sure you do not sit for over 1 hour at a time, and remember to do stretches that promote healthy blood flow.

Mistake #3: Intake of processed medication and creams

This creates the same potential problem as processed foods. Even many of the fiber supplements contain processed and artificial elements that can create side-effects elsewhere. and lastly they are not even attacking the root of the problem here.

The other downside of these creams which do no benefit is that they waste one's time and the hemorrhoid can get worse over time if the root problem is not reversed.

So try to avoid these 3 mistakes and you will not be contributing to any worsening of hemorrhoids. It's very important to understand these in our modern lifestyle of sedentary office work and processed, convenient diets.

Modern Medicine

Doctors do good things, too.

The medical profession has done a huge amount of good. If, you have appendicitis, or you want to avoid catching polio, or you break a bone, run to the nearest doctor.

Modern medicine has also eliminated smallpox from the whole world. It’s a disease that doesn’t exist anymore.

If I contract a bacterial disease like pneumonia or tuberculosis I definitely want antibiotics ---by prescription, from a doctor. If I were injured in a car accident I wouldn’t think of going to anyone but a doctor.

Many the heart valves of folks in their twenties and thirties were falling apart because they had suffered from rheumatic fever when they were children. Now rheumatic fever practically doesn’t exist, thanks to modern medicine. Those open heart operations aren’t needed anymore.

Those are some of the things doctors have accomplished!

But the big killers of our time --- cancer, heart disease, and stroke, --- are largely “lifestyle diseases.”
They are caused by the way we live --- especially the food we eat, or don’t eat. They are caused by toxins and pollution in our environment. Lack of exercise and even lack of happiness are also factors.

The most effective way of fighting them is to take the antioxidants. But that is not the only answer.

Do you know the number one risk factor for heart disease? It’s not high cholesterol. It’s not high blood pressure. It’s not smoking.

The number one risk factor is whether you are unhappy!

By now I hope you are starting to see, the medical establishment is seriously on the wrong track where these modern diseases are concerned.

Yet these are the things most people suffer from. These things probably account for at least 80% of visits to doctors’ offices.

You can eliminate those 80% of your visits to your doctor!
Eating a low-salt, low-fat diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, and fiber can actually reduce your age-related risks of heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, diabetes, and other aging diseases.
It’s very important to take heed that your body will need protein to maintain and rebuild muscles. You can get low-fat and quality protein from poultry, fish, eggs, soy, and limited amounts of nuts and low-fat meat and dairy.

You also need carbohydrate, which is the body's preferred source of energy. There are two main sources of dietary carbohydrates: simple sugars, such as sucrose (the refined white sugar added to sweets and desserts), fructose (the sugar contained in fruit), and lactose (milk sugar); and complex carbohydrates, which come from vegetables and grains.

Unlike refined sugars, fruits contain vitamins and fiber. Dairy products contain nutrients such as calcium and vitamin D. Complex carbohydrates contain vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Get most of your carbohydrate calories from vegetables, grains, and fruits. And try to replace fat calories with complex carbohydrates in your diet.

Anyway, fat is needed as energy provider, too. However, to help keep your blood cholesterol levels low, get most of your limited fat intake from the polyunsaturated fats as in liquid corn oil or soybean oil, and monounsaturated fats as in olive oil, avocados, and nuts. Try to limit saturated fats like beef, pork, veal, butter, shortening, and cheese. You can do this by eating these foods less often, having smaller servings, choosing less fatty cuts of meat, and by using stronger tasting cheeses so you can use just a little and still get the cheese flavor.

Try to avoid the trans fats (hydrogenated fats) found in stick margarine and in many processed foods such as crackers and cookies. Trans fats are now shown on the nutrition facts labels found on most packaged foods.

How about water? Your body need it to replace water lost through activity. Because your kidneys gradually become less efficient at keeping your body hydrated, make a conscious effort to get six to eight 8fl oz glasses of water a day.

As you take a look at your daily diet, remember that as you age your body's daily energy needs slowly decrease. You therefore need fewer calories a day than when you were younger. And natural hormone changes make your body prone to depositing more body fat and less muscle. Eating a healthy balanced diet and limiting your intake of saturated fat, along with increased activity and muscle strengthening, can help you stay at a healthy weight.

As you age your bones lose mineral content more rapidly than before, especially if you are a post-menopausal woman, because lower estrogen increases bone loss. As a result, you need to have calcium and Vitamin D in your diet, to help prevent osteoporosis. Or, you may want to take a calcium and vitamin D supplement.

Simply put, the best way to reach and stay at a healthy weight as you age is to take in fewer calories than you needed in your youth and to make sure that most of what you eat is nutritious and low in fat and processed sugar.

Limit saturated fats and trans fats. Some people call this the “clogged drain” theory of treating heart disease.

But not without problems. Six times as many angioplasty patients need repeat treatment or surgery as those who had a bypass.

A study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (1992) found that half the angioplasties carried out in the U.S. were probably unnecessary! According to the study, “ … not a single properly randomized study supports the superior advantage, if any, of angioplasty as compared with medical therapy …”

The kindest thing I can say about angioplasty is that it’s a short-term solution. Studies show the arteries close up again in 57% of all cases. The terrified patient has to undergo another angioplasty. If he or she lives through all this, bypass surgery is next. I’m not a fan of drugs therapy, but studies show even drugs are better treatment than either angioplasty or bypass.

Another technique will eventually replace angioplasty. You may hear about “laser endarterectomy.” There’s also something called “atherectomy.” They actually insert a tiny, high-speed rotating knife in your artery to cut away the cholesterol.

However, according to two studies, one out of 12 atherectomy patients dies within six months. The arteries close up again in about half of all atherectomy patients.

The answer to the aging diseases is likely quite different from what modern medicine thinks !

Have you ever heard of a weight loss program before? Weight loss programs are designed to assist individuals, possibly just like you, who want to lose weight. What is good about weight loss programs is that they are designed in specific instructions, which is nice for those who have busy schedules.

If you have never taken a weight loss program before, you may be wondering if one is right for you. Better yet, you may be wondering if the weight loss program is worth the cost. In all honestly, you will typically find that weight loss programs are well worth their costs, but it all depends. To ensure that your money is wisely spent, you will want to make sure that you choose the weight loss program that is perfect for you and your needs.

When finding a weight loss program that is more than worth the costs, you will want to examine the features that you have access to. The program features that you have access to play a large part in determining whether or not the weight loss program that you want to take is worth the money. A few of the many weight loss features that you will want access to are outlined below.

One of the many benefits that would make a weight loss program well worth the cost is that of healthy eating tips. As you likely already know, healthy eating is an important part of any weight loss plan. Many weight loss programs have healthy eating sections that include easy to make recipes for foods and drinks, as well as shopping tips and much more. As previously stated, healthy eating is an important part of losing weight; therefore, you should look for a weight loss program that does have a healthy eating or a healthy foods section.

Another feature that would make a weight loss program more than worth the costs is that of an exercise program. It has been said that exercise and healthy eating are the two most important components of losing weight. You should be able to find a weight loss program that has an exercise section for you to access. This section are workouts that you should try, which may be accompanied by pictures, videos, or at least detailed directions. You may also find charts that outline how many calories are burned with common exercises, and much more.

One feature that you may not necessarily think of, but one that is important, is that of an online message boards or a community section. Community sections are often comprised of online message boards. These sections often allow you to communicate with other weight loss program members or group leaders. This communication is nice as it may help to give you motivation. You may even find a weight loss buddy or partner to help you on your journey.

Guaranteed results or free trial periods are another sign that a weight loss program may be worth the money. Often times, many individuals are unsure as to whether or not they should pay to take a weight loss program, as they do not know for sure that they will lose weight. A large number of weight loss programs give you the ability to test out their programs free of charge and then there are others that give you guaranteed results. With guarantees like these, weight loss programs are more then worth their costs.

The above mentioned points are just a few of the many that may be able to help you decide whether or not taking a weight loss program is worth the cost. If you are able to find a weight loss program with a free trial period, you may want to think about giving it a shot.

Convert sugar and fat

Are you too busy to do anything to add years to your life? Or too skeptical? Or too broke? If you fit any of these categories, at least try this:

Take 200 micrograms (mcg.) of chromium picolinate. You can get it at any health food store or possibly your pharmacy. Chromium enables you to convert sugar and fat into energy. If you will just try this harmless mineral for two weeks, you will have more energy. You may even start losing weight!

About 90% of us don’t get enough chromium. It’s one of the reasons we’re too fat. Lose weight while you sleep from taking a harmless pill. Not bad, huh?

Many researchers now believe a lack of chromium is the culprit in 95% of all adult diabetes in the U.S.A. Sugar robs our bodies of this mineral and we need a lot of chromium just to balance out all the sugar we consume.

Chromium will help you stabilize your blood sugar level and get more energy out of the food you eat. It causes you to metabolize or burn your food more efficiently. It actually burns up fat so you don’t add it to the spare tire around your middle!

What’s more, a researcher at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Vitamin and Mineral Laboratory recently confirmed that chromium has no toxic effects. You can feel perfectly safe taking 200 mcg. per day.

Chances are, your doctors (who maybe had four hours of training in nutrition) will tell you supplements are a waste of time. Even after publishing the studies on vitamin E and beta carotene, the National Cancer Institute and the American Heart Association are still not recommending vitamins. As usual they say “more study” is needed. It’s amazing.

However, today more doctors finally tell you to take vitamin A, vitamin E, beta carotene, selenium, and other supplements. A lot of doctors are taking antioxidants on the sly, because of the remarkable studies that are coming out.

Don’t wait! Do one thing today and feel the difference within two weeks. Start taking these supplements at once. These simple vitamins and minerals are so powerful at fighting cancer and heart disease.

Why cancer? stroke? heart disease?

We are living in the age of a nutrition revolution. It turns out the easiest & most powerful way to improve your health is to take the vitamins and minerals called antioxidants.

All the diseases that have stumped the medical establishment, i.e. cancer, stroke, heart disease, and aging, have a single underlying cause. Again, I want you to know it’s quite easy to neutralize the killer!

Several studies were presented in 1992 at the American Heart Association’s 65th Scientific Sessions. The first study involved almost 90,000 women. Those who took vitamin E for more than two years cut their risk of heart disease almost in half compared to those who did not take vitamin E.

The second study involved 45,720 middle-aged and elderly men. Those who had taken vitamin E for more than two years had a 26% lower risk of heart disease.

A recent study showed that people who regularly consume vitamin E supplements have half the risk of oral and pharyngeal cancer. That finding comes from researchers at the U.S.National Cancer Institute.

However, the NCI researchers also found that multivitamin tablets are not enough. You need big doses. One of the authors says, “We speculate that the vitamin E dosage in multivitamins (usually 30 I.U.) was not sufficient for a protective effect.”

If you want to be protected by this powerful antioxidant, you will need to take vitamin E tablets containing anywhere from 100 to 400 I.U. (International Units). You cannot get what you need from multi-vitamins. Let me add that no one has ever reported any toxic effect from taking large dosages of vitamin E.

Scientific research has clearly established the value of antioxidants. The pity is most of doctors in the medical profession don’t know much about nutrition. How much class time doctors spent studying the effect on your body of the food you eat? Someone told: about four hours. And he spent zero hours studying the effect of exercise in the medical school. He had to learn it for himself.

But some of the doctors are finally learning.

Colon cancer

You decide how long you want to live! The basic principle is as follows: You can decide how healthy you will be. Even people who were old or in poor health have gotten well with a certain program. If you can give three minutes a day, the program can add up to ten years to your life.

In other words it really is possible to feel good all the time. It is more than just not being sick. I mean actively feeling good. You can feel full of energy, deep and easy breathing, fresh and glowing skin, bones and joints free of stiffness and pain, a calm stomach, and strong muscles.

Of course how long you will live is based on what an average person can achieve with the program. The results may vary depending on your age and current state of health.

You can do it because it’s all up to you. A doctor said, “I know you can do it because I myself was a stressed-out, 225-pound surgeon. I smoked more than a pack a day. I followed a “seefood diet”, that is, you see food and you eat it right away. I was 34 and hadn’t exercised since university. But that’s almost twenty years ago.”

You know, the easiest thing you can do for your health is the most powerful ! Let me give you a peek at the powerful new medical discoveries. A Harvard study shows that taking vitamin E long-term (more than two years) can cut your risk of heart attack almost in half ! However only about four people out of a hundred are taking enough vitamin E.

The American National Cancer Institute’s journal reported similar results for a study of nearly 30,000 people in China, aged 40 to 69. These people were poor and their diet was terrible. They had among the highest esophageal and stomach cancer rates in the world --- over 100 times U.S. rates. But those who took a daily dose of beta carotene, vitamin E, and selenium suffered 9% fewer deaths than those who didn’t.

Another study of more than 3,000 Chinese who already showed signs of cancer, indicated an 8% decline in cancer deaths and a 38% reduction in stroke and heart disease. How come? They were given a daily dose of 14 vitamins and 12 minerals for six years.

The three supplements, beta carotene & vitamin E & selenium are called antioxidants. They are harmless vitamins and minerals in our food. But we don’t get them in large enough amounts to make us as well as we can be.

You are going to hear a lot about antioxidants in this site, because they are the most exciting medical discovery in 65 years. Over the last few decades, evidence has been piling up high that antioxidants are the key to preventing cancer, heart disease, arthritis, and a host of other diseases.

What is the most important medical discovery of the last 65 years?

The link between free radicals and healthy aging is the most important discovery since doctors learned that some illnesses are caused by germs.

People have all learned to watch out for “germs”. These viruses and bacteria cause diseases like typhoid, tuberculosis, colds, boils, smallpox, and so forth. Louis Pasteur pioneered the germ theory of disease over 100 years ago.

Most of the great successes of modern medicine have been due to this theory. Those successes are huge. There is little tuberculosis and rheumatic fever anymore. Pneumonia is now treatable. Smallpox and polio have been mostly eliminated. We owe all this to modern medicine and to the germ theory of disease.

However, germs are no longer the big killers of our time. The big killers are cancer, stroke, and heart disease. Apart from that, human bodies are also wracked by allergies, arthritis, headaches, and chronic fatigue. The medical establishment doesn’t know what causes these diseases. They are not caused by germs!

Doctors have a lot of dazzling equipment and fancy tests. But the truth is, they know very little about the causes of these diseases. Doctors know almost nothing about nutrition as they haven’t studied it in their training.

There is powerful evidence that free radicals are the answer. And free radicals are easily neutralized by the antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, beta carotene, and others. Antioxidants are not drugs. They are foods. They have no toxic side effects. Actually your body produces its own antioxidants all the time. You’re just helping it do what comes naturally when you take more.

But it may be years before establishment medicine accepts this. The medical industry has spent the last 45 years telling the public that vitamins are a waste of money. Eventually, the medical establishment is going to adopt the free radical theory. Many doctors already have. Today, many people in the world are talking about free radicals and antioxidants.

Start to take advantage of the new health discoveries now.

Don’t wait until everybody’s doing it. It may cost your life to wait until the whole medical profession comes around.

Last but not least. They can actually make you younger!

Smoking is harmful!

The discovery I’m telling you about just might put a large part of the medical system out of business. If you will just follow the suggestions in this article, the so-called-health crises would largely disappear. And health spending would fall by one-third or more.

Scientists have found out that a single cause is responsible for aging as well as for heart disease, stroke, arthritis, cancer, and possibly allergies and a host of other ailments.

These diseases are caused by much the same process that causes oil to go rancid. The same process causes an apple to turn brown if you slice it open and expose it to the air.

The culprit is oxygen!

This is the same element that causes iron to rust. In a way, human body rusts from the inside out, causing dry wrinkled skin, etcetera. Aging skin is the least of our problems. When the process gets out of control, it can cause cancer tumors and hardening of the arteries.

How could oxygen do that? Oxygen becomes harmful when it’s combined into something called free radicals. They are like ravenous molecular sharks. These predators are so hungry they last only millionths of a second before they make an attack on a neighbor.

A free radical is not a living thing like bacteria or viruses. It’s much smaller than that. You know, viruses and bacteria, and even all of the cells in human body are made up of molecules. Molecules are the building blocks. A free radical is a molecule!

So what’s the problem? A free radical contains an oxygen atom that is missing an electron. It can’t rest until it replaces that missing electron. Generally the only place it can get an electron is by taking a bite out of another molecule. You see, human body is full of hundreds of billions of free radicals attacking its healthy cells.

Cancer, heart disease, and stroke come in a bewildering variety of shapes. They seem to be caused by everything from eating margarine to pesticides to smoking cigarettes. But now we know that all the diseases have the same underlying cause, i.e. free radicals.

Why radiation can cause cancer? Because radiation creates free radicals.

Why does stress make us ill? It causes our bodies to form free radicals.

Why is smoking harmful? It creates free radicals.

Ditto for air pollution, pesticides in our environment, even the chlorine in our water can form cancer-causing compounds that promote free radicals.

The good news is that it’s quite easy to control free radicals. Now that we know what they are, and the harm they do!

... life giving supplements!

During the 1980s, scientists discovered a strain of bacteria that could survive the lethal environment of radioactive waste water. Radioactivity kills most forms of life including bacteria, by releasing cascades of free radicals.
But this particular bacterium generated high levels of antioxidants, as much as fifty times more than other bacteria, and was able to survive the radiation.

Think about this: A high level of antioxidants enabled these bacteria to survive the equivalent of nuclear fallout from an atomic war!

Today we know that in humans heart disease is caused by atherosclerosis or hardening of the arteries. In the U.S.A. someone dies of this disease every 34 seconds! Taken as a whole, the disease costs that nation billions of dollars per year.

However, your doctor will probably tell you that high cholesterol causes atherosclerosis. That’s only half the story. The medical profession is some years behind on this. They used to believe all cholesterol is bad. Then they figured out that only one type of cholesterol (LDL) is bad. But they still haven’t got the whole story.

The research shows clogging of the arteries is actually caused by LDL, one type of cholesterol, that’s gone “rancid” because it’s been attacked by free radicals. When LDL goes bad it becomes a free radical itself and attacks other cells. Eventually the chain reaction affects all the arteries. This is precisely the mechanism that causes atherosclerosis.

Recent research indicates that LDL cholesterol undergoes oxidation, similar to butter becoming rancid, when exposed to certain toxic particles called oxygen free radicals. The “oxidized” LDL seems to promote atherosclerosis, the build-up of fatty plaque in the walls of arteries.

A few years ago the American Heart Association published reports that large doses of vitamin E can prevent free radical damage to LDL, the so-called “bad” cholesterol. However, the head of the AHA’s nutrition committee said, “Until scientists determine the correct doses of these vitamins and whether they actually provide any protection, people who buy vitamin pills may be wasting their money.” He added, “At present the AHA has no plans to recommend the use of antioxidant vitamins.”

Anyway, there is impressive evidence that antioxidants prevent cancer, stroke, and heart disease. They are natural nutrients found in food. They are known to be harmless even in huge doses. I don’t know about you, but I’m not waiting to take these life giving supplements.

Control it or reverse it!

The so-called “aging process” has two aspects. It’s very important to understand the difference, because one of them can be controlled or even reversed.

If you do so, there’s no biological reason why you can’t live to be 100 or more.

The aging process that can’t be controlled involves the biological clocks that are built into your genes. For instance, puberty, menopause, and male pattern baldness are genetically programmed. They can’t be controlled --- yet.

Anyway, most people don’t die of these genetically-programmed changes. They die of cancer, stroke, and heart disease instead --- largely caused by free radical damage. A great deal of the damage is done by free radicals. Fortunately, this is the part of the aging process that can be controlled or reversed.

According to researchers, our free radical damage isn’t programmed. It’s mostly caused by a high-fat diet, lack of exercise, smoking, pollution, chemicals, drugs, alcohol, even stress and unhappiness as the results of bad habit. You can neutralize the free radicals by breaking the bad habit, or with antioxidants.

When you hear the average man or woman lives to be about 75, remember that those are averages. As a matter of fact, you can live to be 100, 110, 120 years. The extra years will be good years, not years in a hospital bed. Scientists know that humans can live much longer if they don’t succumb to free radical damage!

I do not know about you. But I enjoy the feeling that 120 is mine to try for. Now that I have someone to share my life with, I want to be 120 to walk with her on the beach, travel around the world, or just hold hands.

With the facts we now know about health and healthy aging, you can actually pick a number between 75 and 120. Aim for it. There is a good chance you’ll hit it !
